Because Birthday Suits are Better than Swimsuits
Raising children in a nudist family can be a rewarding and positive experience, but it also comes with its own set of questions and responsibilities which can vary wildly depending your child(ren)'s age. Here are some thoughtful tips to help parents feel confident as they guide their children in a nudist environment.
It’s Okay to Feel Nervous
One of the most important things you can do is model confidence and comfort yourself. Children learn by watching, and when they see you treating nudism as natural and normal, they will follow your lead. Keep conversations about the body open, age-appropriate, and free of shame—answer questions honestly but simply, and let them know it’s okay to be curious.
Model Boundaries
It’s also important to set clear boundaries and respect personal choice. Encourage your children to speak up if they’re uncomfortable, and reassure them that participation is never forced. Nudism works best when it’s about freedom, not obligation. Respecting their voice helps them develop a healthy sense of consent and self-respect.
You Do You (...but not everyone agrees)
When it comes to social situations, prepare your children for the fact that not everyone will understand nudism. Role-play possible questions or teasing they might encounter, and give them simple, confident answers they can use. This helps them feel secure about their family’s choice while teaching them respect for others who may see things differently..

Family First
Make sure your nudist experiences are always safe and family-friendly. Choose trusted spaces—whether it’s your own backyard, a recognized resort, or a naturist club—where children can feel secure and parents can relax knowing the environment is appropriate. If you are planning on visiting club, call ahead and ask any questions you may have.
Be Prepared
If you are going on a nudist out be prepared! Pack plenty of suncreen, bug spray, and towels for sitting!
The Bottom Line:
Remember that family nudism is about joy, freedom, and connection. By approaching it with patience, openness, and love, you’re giving your children a gift: the chance to grow up feeling proud of who they are, confident in their own skin, and deeply connected to family and nature.
We are always looking for exciting adventures as well as opportunities to grow our community. If you'd like to connect with us to host an event, or to grow our numbers, contact us here!
Our primary mission is to provide a safe and private environment for families to embrace the nudist lifestyle. To uphold this mission and protect the integrity of our community, we do not permit press coverage or media inquiries at our events.
This policy exists for the following reasons:
Member Privacy and Comfort
All of our members are families with children who value the privacy and discretion offered by our group. Media exposure may inadvertently reveal personal details or identities, compromising this trust and subjecting our members to unwarranted judgement or intimidation.
Misrepresentation Concerns
Nudism is often misunderstood, and public narratives can oftentimes mischaracterize our values and activities. By avoiding media attention, we reduce the risk of misrepresentation or sensationalism that could harm our community or its members. If you’d like to learn about our values we suggested you learn more here.
Focus on Safety
Contrary to popular misconceptions, nudist go to great lengths to protect our families and our children. By not sharing any information about our events we protect ourselves from harrassment or worse. We thoroughly vet who becomes a member of our group and the venues we use to host our events.
While we do not invite press coverage, we are happy to provide general information about our group and the nudist lifestyle through controlled channels such as our website, blog posts, or outreach efforts. We also have some families who are willing to talk to the press and we would gladly put you in touch with them. If you have questions or are curious about our mission, please contact us directly.
Thank you for respecting our commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable space for all members.
Ha! You’re a weirdo for being naked around your family.
Example Responses: It’s not weird to me. My family is comfortable that way. Why do you care? Don't knock it until you try it.
Wait—you don’t wear clothes at your house? That’s so strange!
Example Responses: Why is it strange? I didn't know having a body was strange. Why is it strange to be comfortable with my family? You get naked at home too, we just don't rush to put ours clothes back on.
That sounds wrong. Aren’t you embarrassed?”
Example Responses: Why should I be embarrassed? What sounds wrong about it? Have you tried it? Does wearing clothes mean you are never embarrassed?
Why would you want to be naked all of the time?
Example Responses: Because it's so much more comfortable, expecially when it's hot. Honestly, I don't even think about it...when you are with people who enjoy it you don't feel naked at all.
So… what’s it really like?
Exampel Response:It’s just normal life without clothes. We play games, eat dinner, go swimming and all the other things family do.
I’m going to tell everyone you’re a nudist!”
Example Responses: Why do you think anyone will care? My family's private life isn't for you to share. I don't really care, but my mom and dad may not want you telling everyone.
